Illegal Parking Rampant on Jalan Jembatan Besi Raya

Weak supervision from officers and residents’ minimum awareness make Jalan Jembatan Besi Raya, Jembatan Besi Urban Village, Tambora Sub-District, West Jakarta, rampant with illegal parking. Both sides of the road, especially near Season City shopping center, are packed with vehicles parking illegally, especially motorcycles. As a result, traffic flows on the road towards Roxy or Grogol often jammed due to narrow road segment.

Sudirman (53), a resident of RT 03/05 Jembatan Besi, said the existence of illegal parking on Jalan Jembatan Besi Raya rampant since three years ago. “ It has been rampant again since more than three years ago. Many motorcycles even parked in flood control post area which also transformed into illegal parking lot ,” he complained, Sunday (5/25).

Illegal Parking, 31 Vehicles Executed in North Jakarta

Similar condition is also seen under Grogol Toll, precisely at RT 11/09, Grogol Petamburan Sub-District. There, the location is used as parking lot for medium-sized trucks.

According to Head of West Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department Supervision and Control Section, Imam Slamet, his party has conducted illegal parking raid many times in those two locations. In the raids, the officers removed vehicles’ tire valves. “Indeed, after being raided, violators are usually parks their vehicles again,” he uttered.

Imam told that his party will conduct illegal parking raid again in the near term, especially in both locations. “We will cooperate with the army (TNI) and the police to hold raid and drive off trucks parked under Grogol Toll,” he stated.
